The opening round of the Super Enduro World Cup series visits Kraków for the second time. A track will once again be built at Tauron Arena Kraków from several tonnes of soil, tyres, stones, and logs – an arena, where the best bikers of the world will come to race. We have learned the race details during a press conference announcing this event.
Małgorzata Marcińska, the President of the Management Board of Agencja Rozwoju Miasta SA, who manages TAURON Arena Kraków, emphasized that the facility is perfectly ready for the upcoming event: ‘We’ve had tonnes of soil, wooden logs, stones, and even a pool with water. We’ve seen it many times how efficient it is to both prepare the track and to disassemble it, and I’m convinced that it will be the same this year.’
One of the obstacles will be designed by the fans themselves this year! Those who participate in a special online contest will decide on one element, which will appear at TAURON Arena Kraków.
Oskar Kaczmarczyk, a Polish SuperEnduro competitor and this year’s Polish Champion, told us about the preparations for the event. His training plan won’t differ much from the preparations for the Polish series of the competition, yet it will surely be more intense. Next to a range of gym trainings, cycling or running, he will need to pay more attention to riding a bike, which involves driving a super-cross and a SuperEnduro tracks. When asked about the competitors who might be his greatest rivals, he responded that the fight will be with David Cprian, Tim Apolle, and Blake Gutzeit.
Tomasz Gagat, the Polish promoter of the event, told us what additional attractions will be available to those who visit the Kraków’s Arena on the 9th of December. ‘Racing and sport will be at the core, but we are preparing other surprises. There will surely be a grand opening ceremony, with a lot of smoke, fireworks and light effects. We want the audience to feel that they are taking part in something special.’ The top three riders of last year’s series have already confirmed their attendance. The U.S. season is drawing to a close and Colton Haaker is in great form. The list of greatest rivals surely includes this year’s winner of Red Bull 111 Megawatt – Jonny Walker. We can’t forget Alfredo Gomez, who will surely keep is foot on the gas until the very end. To put it shortly, we won’t complaint about the lack of emotions and the rivalry will surely be very fierce!
Rafał Sonik, honorary patron of the Polish round of the SuperEnduro World Cup, was a special guest of the conference. The six-times winner of the World Cup and the winner of the Dakar Rally emphasized how important it is to support local events and to promote Polish motor-sport on the international arena. ‘I’ll keep my fingers crossed for all competitors wearing white&red. Your youth is incredible and highly talented and I hope that our bikers will take high positions, giving us all an emotional event,’ said Rafał Sonik.
