It has been already 15 years since Rafał Sonik founded, in collaboration with Jacek Bujański, ATV Polska. The founders celebrated this round jubilee in a large group of quad riders from across Poland during the second round of the Polish crossing championship in Golub-Dobrzyń.
Over one hundred quad riders competed for points in the classifications in the Polish cup and championship, crossing canyons, ravines, swamps and rivers. When most of them were heading slowly towards the former Teutonic castle and the rally camp, Rafał Sonik arrived at the market place in the Old Town. The long-time President and founder of ATV Polska Association arrived in full gear, riding the quad which he used in the Dakar Rally, to meet with his supporters and the town authorities. Mayor Mariusz Piątkowski handed over to the winner of Dakar Rally 2015 an honorary safe-conduct pass entitling him to all privileges that can be enjoyed at the castle. Jacek Bujański solemnly presented his colleague with a quad shirt made especially for this occasion to commemorate the 15th jubilee of ATV Polska.
– A man who wants to climb the highest mountain of those that he can climb, must have fundamental reasons for that and fundamental strength. You are this strength for me. I do not have mine. It is all yours. The reason why I keep racing all my life is to make you proud of me as I am proud of you. Thank you very much for this power which none of my competitors has. It is for this power that none of them will defeat us. You can be sure about this – said Rafał Sonik to the quad riders, expressing his gratitude for their support and warm welcome.
After long conversations with the supporters and signing hundreds of photos, Rafał Sonik left the market place and headed for the castle accompanied by a troop of hussars. At the castle, he was awaited by the riders associated at ATV Polska and the management of the Association with a treat and a ceremony closing the Golub round of the Polish crossing cup and championship.
Another huge event will take place on 17 September in Dąbrowa Górnicza, where the 15th anniversary of the foundation of ATV is planned to be celebrated on quads. Riders from across Poland will try to beat the record in the number of quads gathered together and the motors will roar to commemorate this anniversary.
