It was the 15th edition of the Sport Stars Festival in Dziwnów, where as many as ten Polish sportsmen uncovered the replicas of their most important medals and trophies. Rafał Sonik’s Bedouin from the Dakar Rally was one of them.
The Walks of Fame take different forms all over the world. Most often they are made up of hand imprints or memorial plaques. The Walk of Fame in Dziwnów is unique, because this is where sportsmen uncover the replicas of their most important trophies. It has Olympic medals, World Championships medals, or the Bedouin – the most famous trophy in the world of motor sports.
Together with Rafał Sonik, another racer, Krzysztof Hołowczyc, came to Dziwnów on the invitation of the mayor, Grzegorz Jóźwiak. Born in Olsztyn, Krzysztof came up third in the Dakar Rally in 2015, and he drove Toyota Hilux at the Baltic beach during the festival, taking along a few happy festival attendees for a ride.
Also, Janusz Brzozowski, Leszek Kucharski, Krzysztof Ignaczak, Przemysław Marczyński, Ryszard Wolny, Tadeusz Mytnik, Artur Siódmak and Szymon Ziółkowski uncovered their medals, too. The trophy of the last of them was the hundredth replica at the Dziwnów’s Walk of Fame.
