This year’s FIM World Cup season begins on 1 April in the United Arab Emirates, but shortly after returning from the Dakar Rally, Rafał Sonik began his preparations for the fight for the seventh World Cup in his career.
In the first part of the preparatory season, Rafał Sonik and his trainer focus first and foremost on building up strength and endurance.
‘First in Zakopane, and then in the Alps, we have been working out hard, two times a day. In the morning, we went off for a run/walk in the mountains, and sometimes we went skiing. In the afternoons or in the evenings, we did some stretching and functional training,’ reported Karol Łakomiec.
After these preparations, time has come for quad tests. In a few days, the six-times winner of the FIM World Cup will go to Dubai, where he will train on Yamaha Raptor and Honda TRX. It is possible that, after four years on driving a Honda in the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge, he will choose Yamaha this time.
