“Fast on the track – Safe on the road” is the title of an innovative project initiated by the International Association Passe-Partout, which is designed to increase road safety among young drivers. The project is open to holders of A and B category driving licenses between the ages of 18 and 24 years.
The project was prepared by the Association in collaboration with the Tarnów Municipal Police Headquarters, the Lesser Poland Voivodeship Road Traffic Centre in Tarnów, the Tarnów Poviat and the city of Tarnów under the honorary patronage of the Marshal of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship – Marek Sowa. In 2012, Rafał Sonik became the ambassador for the project.
When I started my racing career, I was attracted by the idea of high speed that I could develop. I wanted to be the fastest. Nowadays, as a racer with more than 20 years of experience gained during the World Cup and the Dakar Rally, I know that speed is not the key to victory. Experience and common sense help me win. Safety is a priority during all the races that I know. I do not take unnecessary risks. I always remember a simple maxim: you have to reach the finish line to win.
When I get off the quad, I take off my helmet and cease to be a rally driver – I’m just a driver. “Fast on the track – Safe on the Road” is a project that allows you to exceed the speed limit in a controlled way and see how the track differs from a public road. Perhaps, thanks to this action, we will discover real sporting talents among young drivers? Careful driving is the first step on the road to success. Every day, we can still win our own lives.
I do agree – Rafal Sonik.
